About this service

Highku is a small social haiku-sharing app where users write, share, and vote on short poems. It is a user-to-user service under the UK Online Safety Act 2023, operated by John Peart, an individual in the United Kingdom.

Risk profile

Highku has a limited risk profile:

• Content is text-only, limited to the 17-syllable haiku format
• There are no images, videos, links, or direct messages
• Search is limited to numeric user and haiku IDs only — there is no discovery or algorithmic recommendation of users
• All users must be aged 18 or over, enforced through Apple's App Store age rating and parental controls, and verified during onboarding
• The service is very small in scale

Community guidelines

All users must accept community guidelines during onboarding before they can use the app. The guidelines prohibit harmful content including hate speech, harassment, explicit material, spam, and privacy violations.

Content moderation

Highku uses a report-and-review moderation system:

• Any user can report a haiku that breaks the community guidelines
• Reported content is reviewed by the service operator
• Content that breaks the guidelines is removed
• Authors receive a strike for each guideline violation
• Three strikes result in a temporary ban from posting

If you have a question, concern, or complaint, you can contact us using the in-app support form (Profile > Contact us). Support tickets are handled by the service operator and you will receive a reply via push notification.

Illegal content

If you encounter content that you believe is illegal, please report it using the in-app reporting feature. If the in-app reporting feature is insufficient, you can use the in-app support form (Profile > Contact us). Reports of illegal content will be reviewed promptly and removed where appropriate.
